How to Insert a SimpleViewer Pro Flash File (SWF) into a WordPress Page:
Thanks to Geek Street Studios and Mac Web Guru my Friend, Associate and Business Partner.
There are a few steps to do:
- (Understand that all my WordPress files are not in the root but in a folder called “wordpress” if yours is in the root then that is one less folder to discern in your path.
- I also placed all my files in a folder called “flash” so you will see that in my Path notes also.)
- Read through all the tasks before you start
- Please donate (via Paypal see link if we have helped)
- Email me to have me look at your handy work
Flash Tasks:
- Flash Task- Open your Flash SSP Project go to the Components inspector Scroll down to the bottom and place there in the path for the xml file to be found–>: /wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/flash/images.xml (—either way be sure your path starts with a forward slash- ie. /
- Flash Task— take note of it’s dimensions height and width in pixels –then publish the swf.
- Then use this path in the xml file itself inorder to find the gallery —>lgPath=”/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/flash/gallery/album1/large/” And include if you have chosen to use thumbnails––> tnPath=”/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/flash/gallery/album1/thumbs/”
(Wait don’t get excited yet!)
The FTP and WordPress Tasks:
- FTP task-first (see if WordPress has an “uploads folder” in the wp-content folder) if not create an “uploads” folder in WordPress in the wp-content folder.
- WordPress task - then use the upload function in WordPress to upload the .swf file.
- FTP task – go into your file structure –> find that WordPress made more folders — the year folder and the month folder (NOTE: the year /2007 folder and the month /12 (folder) as 2007/12/ in your path) –find your Wordpress uploaded .swf file in there. Delete it (the .swf file) and substitute the whole “flash” folder the entire contents of it, including the gallery folder, it’s album1, folder etc. making sure that the xml file is at the same level as the gallery folder.
KML_flash embed Steps:
- install the plugin –if you have not yet-Make sure it, the entire folder, “kml_flashembed” is in the plugins folder that is in the wp-content folder (not the “themes” plugins folder)
- in WordPress activate the plugin.
- (Now you can get excited!!!) haha
- at this point I am assuming that you can see the flash embed little icon on your edit menu when you go to your page in WordPress and get into the editor.
- Click that and answer it’s questions about the size, height and width, and when it asks for the absolute path to your swf
- use this as your absolute path: /wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/flash/nameofYour.swf (NOTE: you may need to delete the /wordpress/ from this path if you have your WordPress files in the root (/) of your website ) also the “/flash/” may need to be changed to match the “/name/” that you named your folder that holds the gallery and the xml file.
Now You can get really excited– it should work –go view your page and be sure to refresh! and wait –it takes a few short moments for it to show up –depending on your ISP speed. ENJOY!
